Depth of Joy

Some call it happy
But it is so much more
More in depth
In depth through one's bones
It's not always light and fluffy
But when known
When felt
It brings smiles from the inner core
Goose pimples running on skin
Contentment enveloping the heart
A knowing of goodness
A knowing of beauty
And the deepest of sighs
For light has flooded my being.

The above poem written during 4/28/13 Writing Circle. Prompt: Pick an emotion and write a poem without using the word or any form of the word (can use synonyms)

Do you feel me?

Darkness envelopes me.
Stranded on a couch
surrounded by a sea of
empty wine bottles, candy wrappers
and pizza boxes.
Lights out, curtains drawn.
My only company the TV.
Haven't showered in days.
Keeping up appearances
thru email and texts.
A heavy burdened soul
drenched in tears.
No joy, no motivation,
no light at the end of my tunnel.
My suffering knows no end.

prompt: place, 3 words about what it looks like, a statement of sound, tell what it feels using simile or metaphor

River

bumpy, rocky, flowing
the little ones gurgle into a rushing massive roar
here I am carefree- yet the river is danger
the river foreshadows tragedy at the first mistake.

The Creative Process

Slow, quick, steady
Pause,
Breathe,
Rest,
Anxious in hold
Like a fly in a trap
Sputtering and flapping
Heart racing
And mind shouting, "Oh crap!"
Pause,
Breathe,
Remember,
Supported, cheered, affirmed
Path is right
Process is
It will be
In it's time.

Pick a sense, pick a line and pass it on (#2)...

Sense: Touch
First Line: from Rumi

Nature helped me
By providing a field to caress
I stretched in the soft, damp grass and pulled strong stems
Warmed in her sunshine, tickled by her breeze

Dance with me

POETRY PROMPT 4/14/13
6 random words (3 nouns, 3 verbs): kitten, dance, table, splash, flower, blossomed
First line, one random word is first word
Sixth line, is last word
Rest, in the middle somewhere
Use only each word once
----------------------------------------------

Dance with me.
Stretch like a kitten in downward dog.
Shake it on a table or slide across the floor.
Sway, oh beautiful flower, rooted in place.
An adult blossomed back to youth.
Wiggle, shimmy, bop - let's make a splash.

Pick a sense, pick a line and pass it on...

Sense: Sight
First Line: from Rumi

Love I learned in a single kiss
your eyes sparkled warm curiousity
their depths expressing a mountain of thoughts
your cheeks flushed red with truth and desire.
